Southern Rollercoaster

Length: approximately 9 km. Elevation: 180 m.

We start our trip in the lovely fishing village of Marsaxlokk. We head southeast out of town and soon climb up the Delimara peninsula. The road brings us to St Peter’s Pool, very popular on Instagram and world famous because of diving dogs. But we soon leave the crowds behind and take some beautiful clifftop paths towards the Xrobb l-Għaġin area, before descending down to the Munxar cliffs. While enjoying the majestic views we will reach the edge of the village of Marsaskala, where drinks can be had. After that we make our way back towards Marsaxlokk, on a beautiful rollercoaster of paths, with one final descent into the village and a well-deserved refreshment along the colourful waterfront.

Scenery: *****

This walk is all about cliffside paths, high above the shimmering blue seas.

Difficulty: *****

The are very few flat stretches on this hike; it’s all up and down, and in places the paths can be narrow, steep and/or exposed.

Add-ons: the picturesque village of Marsaxlokk makes a great stop for ice cream, drinks or a nice lunch in one of the many fish restaurants.
